Computational Chemist Post Doc

Description
At Procter & Gamble, modeling enables innovative new products and processes and improve innovation productivity. The successful candidate is expected to develop, apply, and deploy models and simulations to predict product performance and stability.

For simulations, the candidate is expected to have a strong expertise in one or more areas of computational chemistry – e.g., molecular dynamics/monte carlo, QM/MM, ab-initio QM simulations etc. Experience in not just in implementing such models but also in the underlying theoretical basis.
This must be complemented by good applied mathematical skills and strong physical intuition across multiple areas soft matter physics and chemical engineering (or a willingness to learn): classical and statistical thermodynamics, transport phenomena, rheology of complex fluids, colloid science – so that they can build simplified system-level, physics-based pen/paper models – to elucidate correct governing principles when physics at multiple length/time/energy scales can be at play, and develop chemistry specific models where applicable.

Job Responsibilities (below):
1. Computational Chemistry Simulations: Conduct simulations utilizing first principle physics/chemistry.
2. Development of custom models/simulations and implementing new sampling schemes into standard MD engine source codes, developing code for doing calculations for which ready software may not exist – e.g., classical DFT, lattice models, integral equation theories).
3. Develop multiscale models that can carry results from molecular/atomic scale to macroscopic length and time scales using simplified equation based approaches and knowledge of classical thermodynamics, transport phenomena, colloidal science etc.
4. Establish and lead external collaborations with academic or commercial partners for new capability development.

Qualifications
A PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biophysics, physics or like degree.
